Boston town of Milton set to celebrate 350th birthday in style

Milton town, Boston

On May 5 the city of Milton will be celebrating its 350th birthday at the Grand Ballroom of the Quincy Marriott. In commemoration of this historic milestone, the town has gone to great lengths to honor two local residents who have made incredible impact, not only around Milton, but also throughout the United States.

Dr. Ronan Tynan, who moved to Milton last year, will highlight the evening alongside his good friend Pauline Wells. Tynan, who is perhaps best known for providing a powerful voice as one of the famed Irish Tenors, came to America in 1999 to pursue a music career. His talents have given him the unique opportunity to perform in front of presidents, on Broadway and at nearly every major venue.

As a result of all of his efforts, Tynan will also be receiving the Ellis Island Medal of Honor from the National Ethnic Coalition later this month. The award, considered to be one of the nation’s highest honors, is given to those who have made enduring cultural contributions to both the United States and the world.

Joining Tynan on stage at the event will be his good friend Pauline Wells. Wells, who also hails from Milton, has been a lieutenant with the Cambridge Police Department for the past fifteen years. She has worked tirelessly on the behalf of many local charities and military veterans groups, while also serving as an advocate for cancer patients. On top of her inspirational personal story, Wells offers a voice that rivals that of Tynan. She has performed throughout the country and become a local legend in Boston for her two stints singing the national anthem at Fenway Park.

For the city of Milton, the opportunity to honor two of its most fabled residents will certainly be a night to remember. Tickets to the event are $50 and includes a cocktail reception at 6:30, while the concert itself begins at 7:30.
