Thousands of supporters of bankrupt billionaire Sean Quinn are expected to gather in support of the embattled Quinn family in Ballyconnell, County Cavan this Sunday.

Organizers have been forced to dismiss rumors that buckets for a cash collection will be passed around, a clear indication of how far the man who was once Ireland’s richest and worth over $6 billion has fallen.

The group organizing the event is called Concerned Irish Citizens and several well known names are expected to turn up in support of Quinn according to organizers.

When at his height, Quinn employed thousands in border counties and was by far the biggest employer in the area.

A previous rally that also attracted thousands was widely criticized in the Dublin media because of Quinn’s debts to Anglo Irish Bank whose stock he bought based on collateral from his business empire.
When the bank collapsed so did Quinn’s investments.

Many members of the Quinn family are expected to be present including Sean Quinn himself. A nephew has fled to Northern Ireland while one of his sons, Sean Quinn Junior, is in jail because of a failure to co-operate with authorities trying to pin down the family’s financial holdings.
