Jason Dunn, the 27-year old Californian man who allegedly stabbed his father with a pair of scissors before cutting off his own hands with a radial-arm saw appeared in court this Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Dunn pleaded not guilty in a Shasta County courtroom to the attempted murder charge lined up against him. His preliminary hearing has been moved to September.

In his court appearance on Wednesday, Dunn's hands, which have been surgically reattached, were wrapped in heavy bandages.

Despite the life threatening injuries sustained by Jason's father Greg Dunn, the 59 year old was treated in a hospital for his wounds and lived through the assault.

Jason was transferred from Mercy Medical Center, where he was first brought after the incident, to Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto where doctors managed to reattach his severed hands.

In a bedside interview conducted by police at the hospital, the 27-year-old reportedly admitted to the stabbing, relates the Daily Mail.

The police report from the incident says that the stabbing came about as a result of a verbal confrontation between the two men, who apparently had a "turbulent relationship" according to neighbors.
