A new and never before seen collection of scholarly resources has been published online by the Royal Irish Academy.
Rare works in Gaelic from 1882-1926 and the online archive of religious texts from 1600-1882 have now been published as part of the RIA’s dictionary of new Irish project.
The new collection follows the 2004 publication of an archive of the 1600-1882 period. It features works by famed writers such as Pádraig Pearse, Seosamh MacGrianna and Pádraic Ó Conaire. This period collection includes 300 books in Gaelic.
Readers can search for words or phrases located in their original context. Content from periodicals and newspapers will be added at a later date. The collection includes short stories, novels, plays and song lyrics, as well as scientific reference books, government documents and translations.
The Irish Times says, “The Online Archive of Religious Texts 1600-1882 includes "Eochair Sgiath an Aifrinn" by the poet and historian Seathrún Céitinn, composed ca 1615, and "An Teagasg Críosdaidhe," by Bonabhentura Ó hEodhasa (1611).”
Access to the works is available at fng.ie.
