A County Longford woman pleaded guilty to the possession of child pornography in her home. Tanya Mulryan (30) of Foynes Court, Longford town admitted to the possession of images, printed on A4 paper, in February 2010.

Initially Mulryan had pleaded not guilty, according to the Irish Independent’s reports. However she changed her plea just before the trial began.

The trial was adjourned when the defendant asked to see her medical records. Mulryan had been suffering psychological difficulties and had considered firing her legal team.

The defense lawyer Paul Burns asked that the sentencing of Mulryan be put back until February 2013. He said he will be seeking a number of psychological examinations to be carried out on his client.

Judge Mary Ellen Ring told Mulryan to cooperate with this. She also ordered that Mulryan be registered as a sex offender and remanded her on continuing bail.

Mulryan left the court with her mother. The trial took place at Dublin Circuit Court. It was moved from Longford due to publicity.
