Lance Armstrong set to draw huge crowd for Dublin Twitter cycle ride

Lance Armstrong: Are you ready Dublin?

Dublin is set for a wheel good time today after cycling ace Lance Armstrong invited Irish fans to join him on a cycle ride in Dublin's Phoenix Park.

Armstrong, 37, posted a message on his Twitter page today saying he would be setting off from the traffic circle at Fountain Road and Chesterfield Avenue at 5.30 p.m. Irish time.

The seven-times Tour de France winner is in Dublin for a cancer conference hosted by his foundation LiveStrong.

He also took part in the Tour of Ireland last week which he said was his last official race of the year.

More than 300 people joined him on a ride in Paisley, Renfrewshire, last week when he sent a similar tweet.

However, Irish gardai (police) are expecting a far larger crowd to join the cycle in the park.

Today's tweet read: "Good morning Dublin. Who wants to ride this afternoon? I do. 5:30 pm @ the roundabout of Fountain Rd and Chesterfield Ave. See you there.."

Armstrong returned to competitive cycling this year after retiring in 2005. Since he was 25, he has undergone several treatments for cancer and is hailed by many for his good humor and encouragement for other cancer sufferers.
