With the death of Senator Ted Kennedy, and the decision of U.S. Representative Joe Kennedy not to run for the late senator’s seat, has many saying the Kennedy political dynasty has officially come to an end.
But some disagree, claiming that Joe’s son, Joseph P. Kennedy III, will be the next Kennedy to step up in politics for the famous clan.
The Boston Herald reports that 29-year-old Joe Kennedy III, a prosecutor under District Attorney Michael O’Keefe, impressed the crowd with a moving speech at the John F. Kennedy Library during an Anti-Defamation League dinner to honor PR man George Regan.
“I thought he was terrific,” Regan told the Herald. “I think a lot of people in the room walked away thinking what I thought: This guy could be the next Kennedy to run for higher office.”
The younger Kennedy spoke in front of big-time Democrats such as Massachusetts Senate President Therese Murray, Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Attorney General Martha Coakley, who is running for Senator Kennedy’s now empty seat.
