Jameson Irish Whiskey recently tied in second place as the second bestselling brand of whiskey in the world with sales rising by 16 percent.
Jameson is run by Paris-based drinks company, Pernod Ricard, who also own such leading brands as The Glenlivet, Absolut, Mumm, Beefeater, and Malibu. The Glenlivet showed the highest sales growth at 21 percent, while Jameson and Martell Cognac were placed as the second highest growers with a 16 percent year-on-year.
Jameson was previously the third highest seller but the first half of Pernod Ricard’s financial year showed that Jameson’s net global sales have grown by 13 percent.
Chief executive of Pernod Ricard, Pierre Pringuet , is pleased with the news especially in light of the current economy, the Irish Examiner reports:
“Our growth is still based on the same drivers; our policy of premiumisation and innovation, the strategic brands and strong presence in emerging markets and the US. Confident in the strength of this model, we confirm our guidance of organic growth in profit from recurring operations of close to 6% growth for the full financial year.
Jameson, now in its 24th consecutive year of sales growth, is experiencing double-digit percentage growth in 41 markets worldwide, reports the Irish Examiner. It has also been revealed that the brand expects to reach a sales milestone of five million cases by 2014.
