MMA fighter Conor McGregor (13-2-0) will fight for the first time on American soil on the preliminary card at UFC Fight Night 26 at the TD Garden in Boston this Saturday night.

The 25-year-old featherweight takes on Max Holloway (7-2) in a contest scheduled for three five-minute rounds, and the fight will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

McGregor is an entertaining character who made his UFC debut in April in Stockholm with a first round TKO win over Marcus Brimmage, winning a $60,000 bonus for the knockout in the process.
The Dubliner is a confident fighter who believes in his own talent, and his outgoing personality has won him a legion of fans in the MMA world.

He works out of the Straight Blast Gym in the capital with coach John Kavanagh, and the pair arrived in Boston over the weekend to get ready for fight week.

"I come in shape. I come to fight. Regardless of the result [whether] I win or lose, people are going to want to see me. August 17 once again I will prove that again and get paid again," McGregor told Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour last week.

McGregor has struck up a good relationship with UFC President Dana White, and the pair celebrated the Irishman's birthday recently with a ride down the strip in Las Vegas in a soft top Ferrari last month.
Kavanagh appeared on the same show on Monday with Helwani and explained that what you see is what you get with his fighter.

“I’ve known Conor for almost 10 years. He tends to have this effect on people, whether he is meeting a new guy walking in the gym he will talk to him for half an hour about how to throw a jab, or whether he is meeting the president of the biggest fight company in the world. Conor has a magnetic personality that people are drawn to,” said Kavanagh.
If McGregor can win well and impress fight fans again this weekend, then he will take another important step on the road to his goal of getting a shot at the featherweight title, currently held by Jose Aldo.
