It will be Fifty times two starting early next year, as Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson will film the final two Fifty Shades of Grey films back to back – to save time and money -- for release in 2017 and 2018.

Dornan will reprise his role as Christian Grey, and Johnson returns as his young lover Anastasia Steele, the characters that propelled the Fifty trilogy to worldwide stardom and a ton of cash to boot. The movie version of book one, Fifty Shades of Grey, was released in February and scooped up more than $560 million worldwide.

Dornan suppressed his Northern Irish brogue to star as the S&M obsessed Grey, and the film made him a big star. No doubt he and Johnson secured hefty pay raises for themselves for the next two installments, both of which already have release dates: Fifty Shades Darker bows on February 10, 2017, and Fifty Shades Freed arrives on February 9, 2018.

E.L. James penned the Fifty novels, and she’s keeping the films in the family too. Her Northern Irish-born writer husband Niall Leonard will write the two screenplays.
