Golf's latest Irish golden boy, Shane Lowry, winner of last week’s big PGA tourney in Ohio, has a fiancée, but he’s not in too much of a rush to the altar.

Lowry picked up more than $1.5 million smackeroos on Sunday for his first PGA win , and thanked his Irish fiancée Wendy Honner in his acceptance speech. They became engaged last December in Dubai but no date has been set.

“We’ve no plans yet, Wendy keeps trying to make plans but I’m trying to keep it off till after Christmas. We’ll see in January,” Lowry told Goss.ie.

After they revealed their engagement, Lowry told the press, “I am absolutely delighted. Wendy is a great girl and we are both looking to our future together. It is the icing on the cake at the end of a great year.”

The 28-year-old from Offaly is one of the most well-liked pro golfers out there, clearly with a great future in all directions ahead of him.
