The Dublin-Meath rivalry will be renewed in the semifinals of the Leinster club football championships when St. Vincent’s will meet Royal county champions Summerhill.  Vincent’s defeated Westmeath’s St. Loman’s by 0-11 to 0-9 in their semifinal while Summerhill scored a 2-13 to 1-13 victory over the Newtown Blues from Louth.

Moorefield of Kildare will play Longford Slashers or Portlaoise in the second Leinster semifinal . . .

DUBLIN midfielder Michael Darragh Macauley has been named Footballer of the Year for 2013 at the GPA/GAA All-Stars. Fellow Dubs Stephen Cluxton, Rory O’Carroll, Cian O’Sullivan, Paul Flynn and Bernard Brogan also won all-stars, while teammate Jack McCaffrey scooped the Young Footballer of the Year accolade. Mayo won four all-stars while Monaghan enjoyed recognition for Colin Walshe and Conor McManus . . .

CLARE’S All-Ireland winner Tony Kelly has won the Young Hurler of the Year and Hurler of the Year in the GPA/GAA all-star awards for 2013.  Eight Clare players made the all-star hurling team, with Kelly joined by David McInerney, Brendan Bugler, Pat Donnellan, Colm Galvin, Conor Ryan, Pádraic Collins and Conor McGrath . . .

MAYO side Castlebar Mitchels will meet reigning All-Ireland champions St. Brigid’s of Roscommon in the Connacht club football final after a shock win over Corofin of Galway by 2-8 to 1-10 in Sunday’s provincial semifinal.  Roscommon champions St. Brigid’s had no problem beating St. Mary’s of Leitrim by 5-15 to 1-5 in the second semifinal . . .

LIMERICK side Na Piarsaigh are through to the Munster club hurling final after a 0-20 to 3-9 win over Waterford champions Passage.  Newly crowned Clare champions Sixmilebridge, who beat Newmarket-on-Fergus in Sunday’s county final, will play Cork champions Midleton in the second semifinal . . .

ARMAGH man Kieran McGeeney is to act as an advisor to the Tipperary hurling team next season, his latest appointment after he lost the top job in Kildare football. The All-Ireland winner has been asked to work on the mental side of the game with the Tipperary players by manager Eamon O’Shea . . .
