Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenny will include a stop in Atlanta on his annual trip to the U.S. to mark St. Patrick’s Day. Kenny will be in Atlanta on March 13 and 14 and will serve as the grand marshal of the Atlanta St. Patrick’s parade on the 14th.

“The Irish prime minister is the most popular man in the world on St. Patrick’s Day. Out of the tens of thousands of St. Patrick’s Day parades around the world, we’re absolutely delighted and extremely honored that Enda Kenny has chosen to come to Atlanta to be grand marshal of the 133rd St. Patrick’s Day Parade,” said Dave Fitzgerald, chairman of the Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade, Inc.

Kenny’s schedule in Atlanta will also include meetings with Georgia Governor Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed; engagements with Coca-Cola and a number of other major investors in Ireland; and a keynote address at the Irish Chamber of Commerce of Atlanta.

Kenny will spend St. Patrick’s Day in Washington, D.C. where he will meet with President Obama and partake in the annual festivities on Capitol Hill, including the luncheon hosted by House Speaker John Boehner. He and his wife Fionnuala will also be guests of honor at a White House reception hosted by the Obamas at 4 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day.
