Get ready for a whole lotta Michael Fassbender in the next few months.

The Irish/German actor and two time Oscar nominee will take to red carpets around the world these next few days promoting X-Men: Apocalypse, which opens on Memorial Day weekend. He’ll also be seen in The Light Between Oceans with his love Alicia Vikander the first weekend of September, followed by a big Christmas finish with Assassin’s Creed which debuts on December 21.

Oceans was filmed in 2014, and his off-screen relationship with Swedish co-star Vikander has been going strong ever since. They are the anti-Kardashians, keeping their deal low key and out of the tabloids.

Fass, 39, recently opened up, just a little bit, about Alicia, 27. The Irish entertainment website Goss.ie quotes the Co. Kerry-raised Fassbender as saying, “She is such a hard worker and I admired her from the very beginning. When she showed up on the set of The Light Between Oceans, she was prepared and totally in command of the role. I really respect that.”

Michael is in Sydney these days, filming Alien: Covenant, a prequel to the hugely successful Alien series movies. He told the Sydney Morning Herald that his career as an A lister was hardly a sure thing.

Prior to landing his break, he worked in market research ("that was definitely the worst job that I ever did, the most mind-numbing), laboring ("I wasn't very good at that") and unloading trucks.

"I didn't know what else to do," he says about a possible career outside of acting. "I thought about it. I'd be lying if I said I didn't. But I really believed in myself. I always had a motto: I said to myself, you're good enough to be working, so just keep knocking on the door. But I was terrible at auditions. I mean, I made a balls of so many of them."
