Irish Consul General Noel Kilkenny, based in New York, will wind up his four-year term of office here and assume the post of consul general to Greece at the end of August.

Also moving from New York is Deputy Consul Peter Ryan, who has been assigned to Hong Kong as first consul general.

The Irish Department of Foreign Affairs has yet to publicly name replacements for Kilkenny or Ryan.

“I’m very much looking forward to the new posting and will of course miss the people I met in New York very much,” Kilkenny said.

Kilkenny, a native of Kilrush, Co. Clare, began his diplomatic career in 1977.  He has several international postings, including ones in Holland, China, Washington, D.C, Bosnia, London, Estonia and Moldova.

Ryan arrived in New York in August of 2011.  His prior postings have been in Tokyo, Seoul and Singapore.  He was a co-founder of the Asia Pacific Ireland Business Forum in June of 2006.
