Flying corner forward Lee Wall had Hoboken on the mark in a high scoring junior hurling win on Saturday evening’s card at Gaelic Park.
Wall was unstoppable when in flow and in the second half he was devastating for the winners. From the 10th minute forward Hoboken held the lead, and they used long range shooting from a host of players including Wall to ease to victory.
With Cormac O’Regan from Ennis in impressive form at the back alongside Stephen Bourke and Paul Loughnane, scores were never going to come easy for Waterford. The staunch defending limited them to five scores in the first half as the winners went into the break ahead 2-11 to 2-3.
Wall and Cooney were the goal scorers for Hoboken as they defined their intentions. Jim Nelligan did have an excellent goal in reply after a long solo run, but it was one of the few highlights of the opening half.
Hoboken had eight of the first 10 scores of the second half as they opened an unassailable lead. It included further goals from Roche and Cooney. A long run from Wall after he was found by a good outlet pass by Loughnane punctuated the dominance before both sides’ added points as the game wound to its conclusion.
