Looks like Colin Farrell could be heading to the small screen with a very buzz-worthy role in the second series of HBO’s latest critical darling "True Detective."
Farrell is in talks to join the show that scooped a bunch of Emmy nominations last week, including nods for the stars of the debut season, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. The cast will be new for season two, and HBO has made an offer to Farrell to take the reins.
“The two scripts we have … I hate to jinx it … they are more exciting than the first season,” HBO honcho Michael Lombardo told TV critics in LA last week, adding that the casting announcement would be imminent.
Entertainment Weekly says McConaughey’s critically acclaimed turn in "True Detective" helped build momentum for his Best Actor Oscar win earlier this year for "Dallas Buyers Club." The series has a loyal army of followers so it seems like a no-brainer for Colin to sign on the dotted line.
Each series is only eight episodes long, and the upcoming one will be based in California where Colin lives.
