It's shaping up to be a busy fall season for Colin Farrell, who kicked things off a bit early in San Diego on Saturday with an appearance at the annual Comic-Con International convention to promote his upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

This isn’t just any old run of the mill feature. It’s the first offering from JK Rowling since her phenomenally successful Harry Potter series, and Beasts is a prequel to Potter. It’s set in New York in the 1920s and stars Farrell and Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, who plays “wizarding pioneer Newt Scamander, who plots course for the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) with a briefcase crammed full of wonderful critters,” according to the site We Got This Covered.

There are high hopes for Beasts when it opens in November. Warner Bros envisages a trilogy, which means the pressure is on for a huuuuuge pre-holiday opening.

Farrell and Redmayne debuted a 2.5 minute special effects laden trailer for the film at Comic-Con, and already it’s racked up millions of social media views. But Farrell, who plays the wizard Percival Graves, and the rest of the cast have been warned not to spill the plot beans.

“There’s going to be a hole that opens up and he’ll drop in,” Farrell said of co-star Dan Fogler when the latter almost gave away even the most minor of clues – this according to Time magazine.
