Temperatures are set to sizzle this weekend as summertime officially begins in Ireland.

Ireland’s weather provider Met Eireann said that temperatures will average between 57 and 62 today and are likely to rise on Sunday.

IrishWeatherOnline reports that Sunday will mainly  bring sunny and quite warm temperatures, with light south to southeast winds, which should allow even west coast to enjoy some of the warmth.

RTE reports that next week the days will be very mild or warm in places with temperatures in the mid to high teens in some parts.

Summer time will officially kick off this weekend at 1am Greenwich Mean Time on Sunday.  The summer season officially ends on Sunday 28th October.

Last summer the Irish suffered the worst top temperatures for almost 50 years and the coldest August for two decades.
