As a part of the study patients will maintain a diet of 50 grams of chocolate per day. They will examine blood vessel health and the stickiness of blood at the beginning and end of the trial.

However, not everyone can apply for the medical trial, only those aged 45-60 are eligible and applicants must have a history of high blood pressure but not diabetes.

Lucky participants will receive £120 plus some expenses as well as home deliveries of fruit, vegetables, and of course dark chocolate.
