Irish police made two arrests on Saturday in County Louth in connection with a proposed bomb attack that was meant to take place that evening.
 
Detectives from Dundalk swooped on a location in Mountpleasant, where thy detained two men at work on a trailer.
 
The detectives found two gas cylinders in the trailer, and the two men were taken to Drogheda Garda station.
 
It is believed that the cylinders were going to be used to launch a mortar attack or else as part of a large bomb.
 
The scene has been closed while forensic police examine the findings.
 
One of the men was in his 30s, and the other is believed to be in his 50s.
