The funeral arrangements for Kalie Gill, the 15-year-old Leitrim girl killed by a runaway car in Woodlawn last weekend, have been announced.

According to Hodder's Funeral Home on McLean Avenue in Yonkers, the wake will take place on Sunday from 2 to 9pm at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be on Monday at 10:45am at St. Barnabas High School Chapel. In lieu of flowers that Gill family wishes that donations be made to cover costs of her sister Lindsey's treatment and recovery.

On Thursday St. Barnabas High School established The Kalie Gill Memorial Fund to honor the memory of Kalie Gill and to assist the Gill Family during this tragedy. You can donate to the fund using this link or submit a check to Sr. Joan Faraone, RJM – Principal (St. Barnabas High School, 425 East 240th Street, Bronx, NY  10470).

Kalie Gill, a sophomore at St Barnabas High, passed away from her injuries last weekend when she was struck by a car driven by Roseanne Piccirilli (55), a sixth-grade teacher. No charges have been filed and her car is being inspected.

Lindsey, Kalie’s 12-year-old sister, was also badly injured and remains in the hospital. Her family, including her parents Karen and Damian, maintain constant vigil at their daughter’s bedside.

Although she is expected to make a full recovery, Lindsey suffered head wounds, internal bleeding and multiple broken bones to her lower body. She has regained consciousness a number of times and she has no brain damage.

On Tuesday, speaking to the Irish Voice, Karen said “She’s a tough one. She’s a fighter.”

“She has a lot of broken bones. She has been under sedation and has been in pain.”

The Gills are surrounded by friends and family members from Ireland at the hospital. Meanwhile the Irish community in Woodlawn and Yonkers is supporting the family in every way possible.
