An expert  has estimated that  the White House would sell for between $110 and $115 million if put up for sale.

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue ,home to every president since 1800, was designed by the Irish architect James Hoban and built between 1792 and 1800. Hoban, originally from Kilkenny, trained in Ireland before moving to Philadelphia where he established himself as an architect.

His most famous work, the White House, a white-painted Aquia sandstone in the Neoclassical style building, has been the home of every President of the United States since John Adams.

Jason Koitz, a strategist with The Koitz Group, told real estate website Movoto, “This would be an extreme luxury home…It would probably be $100 or $115 (million).”

He said the building, made up of 132 rooms and 35 bathrooms over six levels, would sell for between $1,364 and $1,455 a square foot.

By comparison, according to The Corcoran Report, a luxury apartment in Manhattan last year sold for $13,049 per square foot, a record price.

However, the price of between $1,364 and $1,455 per square foot for the White House is comparable to the price of recent sales in the Washington area, says Koitz.

The White House does come with some substantial amenities though, including a basketball court, tennis court, movie theater, bowling alley, swimming pool, and jogging track. It also comes with 212 years of priceless history and has been renovated nine times during that period.

Koitz said that it’s the history behind the building that means it could sell for $1 billion. He said the process “to see what it could potentially fetch, would be astounding."
