The Begley family and community in the Newcastle, Ontario, neighborhood are united in shock after an anonymous hate letter was directed at a 13-year-old boy with severe autism.

The one-page, typed letter calls the boy a “nuisance” and a “wild animal” and goes on to suggest the family “euthanize” him.

Begley says the police have been contacted and should they have grounds, charges will be filed against the letter’s author.

Max’s grandmother Brenda Millson said, “I was shaking when I was reading it.

“It’s awful words. You don’t know why somebody would ever do such a thing.”

The boy's mother told CityNews that her son was diagnosed with severe autism at the age of two. She asked, “Who would say that about a child?”

The police have been contacted about the anonymous letter.
