Global Irish Economic Forum to bring diaspora together
“The Forum will be the first time the entire Network has come together and I am looking forward to a frank and intensive exchange of ideas on the Government’s priorities for economic renewal, job creation and the restoration of Ireland’s reputation abroad,” Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore said in a statement on the forums website.
The first forum was held in September 2009 which aimed to explore how the Diaspora could contribute to Ireland’s economic recovery. As a result of this the Global Irish Network was established which is a network of influential Irish at home and abroad.
Topics to be discussed during the two-day conference include “Ireland: the Road to Recovery”, “Ireland’s image abroad”.
Bill Clinton will address the group on “Ireland and the Global Irish in the 21st Century”,
The forum will also launch WorldIrish.com, a new online community for Irish people around the globe.
