Ireland grabbed a valuable 1-1 score draw away with Bosnia in their European Nations championship play off for a place in the finals in Paris next year.

Eight minutes from the end of the game, in a fog shrouded field with visibility barely at allowable levels, Robbie Brady grabbed a fine goal after a clearance from goalkeeper Darren Randolph.

However, three minutes later Bosnia who played by far the more positive football and dominated the game equalized.

Ireland will be delighted with the draw with the second leg coming at home in Dublin on Monday.

It was a sterling display of defense in terrible conditions which led to fears the match would not be completed.

With away goals counting Bosnia will be at a major disadvantage in Dublin where a 0-0 draw sees Ireland through and a 1-1 draw sees the game go to penalties.
