Ireland is bracing itself for gale-force winds and possible flooding over the coming days.

The country’s meteorological service, Met Eireann, warned Tuesday that winds were expected to reach 68 mph (110 km).

"This week will be wet, windy and blustery with rainfall and some strong winds at times," a Met Eireann spokesperson told the Evening Herald.

The forecaster added Thursday will be "quite a wet day with fairly strong winds".

According to the weather report there will be some heavy rain falls with a risk of flooding on Thursday and it will remain very windy with strong southerly winds which will be gale force along coasts.

The weather service also confirmed that a tornado occurred in south west Dublin area in the early hours of October 17th. At around 6am the storm uprooted trees and caused damage to local homes.
