Irish businessman and entrepreneur George Moore has passed away suddenly. The 60-year-old Dundalk native who was a leading philanthropist, passed away in the U.S. where he has been resident for many years in Northern Virginia.

Moore was ranked among the wealthiest Irish on the Sunday TImes list at $205 million and he had underwritten many projects with his funding including the University College Dublin (UCD) science building.

He was a great benefactor of the American Ireland Fund where he headed the Finance Committee.

CEO Kieran McLoughlin described his death as “an enormous loss to Ireland, Irish America and philanthropy everywhere.”

Moore was managing partner of Ravensdale Capital, LLC, a fund that invests primarily in early stage IT companies with a focus on consumer data analytics and decision sciences.

A pioneer in consumer information analytics and delivery technologies for business applications, until 2012 he was chairman and CEO of TARGUSinfo,  a company he founded in 1993 and sold to Neustar in 2011.

He was a member of the Economic Advisory Board to the Prime Minister of Ireland, Northern Ireland Trade & Investment Council, The Flax Trust, and a trustee of the Northern Ireland Memorial Fund.

He held both Commerce and MBS degrees from the University College Dublin, an MBA and DBA from George Washington University, and an Honorary Doctorate in Sciences from the University of Ulster.
