The family of Aisling McCarthy Brady is asking for help from the community and hosting a fundraiser on September 14 as she awaits trial in the death of a toddler in her care. The money will go towards covering her legal costs.

A press release by the Brady and McCarthy families reads: "Aisling was falsely accused of harming a child in her care and wrongfully imprisoned. As a family we are 100% behind Aisling, she is innocent of this crime."

Aisling McCarthy Brady has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder in court in Boston for killing a one-year-old baby.

She faces murder in the first degree charges. The 34-year-old, who is originally from Lavey, in County Cavan, is undocumented. Her lawyer has vowed to prove her innocence.

One-year-old Rehma Sabir was found near death with horrific injuries while in the care of McCarthy on January 14 this year. She died on her first birthday at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Aisling has been held on murder charges since her arrest in January, with an anticipated trial date in mid 2014. According to her family "The financial cost of her defense attorneys are huge and we are asking for your help and support."

At the arraignment and in pre-trial hearings, attorney Melinda Thompson has declared Aisling's innocence and entered motions to have the charges dropped, or to have her released on low bail. The next scheduled hearing in this case is at Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn on September 3rd.

As the financial burden of her defense continues to mount, a fundraising event has been organized for Saturday, September 14th at Florian Hall in Dorchester. This event will offer the Irish community an opportunity to contribute financially to Aisling's defense, while offering much needed moral support to Aisling and her family.

The September 14 fundraiser will feature Music by DJ Connie, a Raffle for all Ireland Football tickets and spot prizes. Also at the event will be attorneys Melinda Thompson and David Meier, who are expected to speak on behalf of Aisling and her family.
