Erin Go Bra will never sound the same again – American football played by models in sexy lingerie is on the way to Ireland.

The Legends Lingerie Football League are to hold open trials for their new Dublin franchise.

The Irish Sun reports that the seven-a-side full contact sport will soon be part of the sporting scene in Ireland.

The game, first established in 2003 as a ‘sexy’ alternative to the Super Bowl’s half-time show, is now hugely popular in the US, Australia and Canada.

The report says huge crowds attend matches when scantily-clad women battle it out wearing only helmets, sports bras, knickers, garters, and shoulder, knee and elbow pads.

Legends League boss Mitchell S Mortaza told the Irish Sun that the European plan is to have a UK, Irish and German franchise in the sport by 2014.

Mortaza said: “This is certainly an exciting time to be part of the LFL and a fan as the sport continues its unprecedented growth globally.

“It’s amazing to think that women from places like Germany, Italy, Russia are aware of our sport and aspire to play on the now global stage of LFL Football.”

Mortaza also said that Ireland will have the opportunity to vote for the name of their national team.
He confirmed that details for the Dublin try-outs will be announced ‘within two weeks.’

Current US team names include the Baltimore Charm, Orlando Fantasy, Chicago Bliss, Las Vegas Sin, and Seattle Mist.

The LFL held an open try-out in Manchester last month which drew women from all over the UK.

The report adds that the Lingerie Football League was renamed the Legends Football League last month to legitimise the sport by focusing on athletes’ sporting ability, rather than their bodies.
