Spider-Man has been saved!

It's the show that never dies. Despite all the controversies over financing and its well published production troubles, U2's "Spider-Man" musical is still pressing ahead and refusing to surrender.

The New York Post reports that the show is now scheduled to enter previews in October and is slated for a November opening on Broadway.

"Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," with music from Bono and the Edge, also has a new villain attached. Up-and-comer Patrick Page will play Spidey's arch enemy the Green Goblin, replacing Alan Cumming who left the show last month.

Page recently played the Grinch in the Broadway production of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

Broadway favorite Reeve Carney is still set to play the web-slinger, but the role of his love interest Mary Jane remains to be re-cast after Rachel Wood stepped aside as delays mounted. The show’s producer auditioned new actresses last week, the Post claimed.
