Top ten reasons “Father Ted” was the best comedy sitcom ever - PHOTOS

Although it’s been off the air for years now, the Channel 4 comedy “Father Ted”, created by Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews, was one of the best shows ever on TV.

Starring Dermot Morgan, Ardal O’Hanlon, Frank Kelly and Pauline McLynn, this show quickly became a cult classic. The show followed the daily trials and shenanigans of Father Ted Crilly who lives on the remote Craggy Island, in the west of Ireland, with the easily confused, but well meaning sidekick Father Dougal McGuire, the cranky Father Jack Hackett, and their housekeeper Mrs Doyle who is forever offering the misfits a cuppa tea.

Here’s just some reasons we love “Father Ted”:

Father Ted’s antics got him into trouble, but he always found some solution.

There was Mrs. Doyle and her love of making tea.

And her insistence that everyone have a drop.

Father Dougal was a bit confused about his job.

Father Dougal was slightly confusion about most things, really.

That time Father Ted and Father Dougal tried to protest a film and it became more popular.

Father Jack always knew the right thing to say.

Father Ted and Father Dougal’s entry “My Lovely Horse” for the Euro Song contest was a classic hit.

All of their run ins with Bishop Brennan

Thanks for the laughs!
