Irish musicians Kevin May and Mick Lynch of The Guggenheim Grotto bring their signature “modern, intelligent, lyrically potent pop” to the Irish Arts Center for one night only on Saturday, March 9th as part of the much-loved SongLives series curated by Grammy-award winner Susan McKeown.

Winners of the international Independent Music Award for “Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter Song” in 2006, The Guggenheim Grotto’s signature mix of timeless folk, soaring melodies and emotionally intelligent lyrics has garnered praise from fans and critics alike, including American Songwriter, LA Weekly, The Washington Post and Paste Magazine.

Having toured extensively with Ingrid Michaelson, Ani DiFranco and They Might Be Giants, the band who now lives in New York has released three critically acclaimed albums: Waltzing Alone (2006), Happy the Man (2009) and The Universe Is Laughing (2010).

Nic Harcourt, an influential tastemaker from the popular Los Angeles radio station KCRW, called their debut “…one of the most beautiful records of the year.”

Joining The Guggenheim Grotto for SongLives will be Manhattan-based singer/songwriter, Jenna Nicholls. Nicholls crafts incredibly lush soundscapes, as evidenced by her debut album, Curled Up Toes in Red Mary Janes (2008), and her sophomore effort, The Blooming Hour (2011). The past few years have seen Jenna tour the world with artists such as Glen Hansard and Steve Kazee, in addition to having her music featured on primetime network television.

Curated by Grammy-Award winner Susan McKeown, SongLives showcases Ireland’s rich songwriting tradition, presenting the best of contemporary Irish performers. This will be the 6th SongLives concert. Previous installments have featured Mundy, Declan O’Rourke, Wallis Bird and Mark Geary.

This one off show is set for Saturday, March 9th at 8pm. For more information visit www.irishartscenter.org.
