The (Lyte Funkie Ones) LFO singer, Rich Cronin, has died at the age of 35 having lost his battle with leukemia.

Cronin was diagnosed with the disease in 2005 and has been battling with the illness ever since.

The band, the LFO, was best known for their big hit in the 1990s, "Summer Girls". It spent six weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Single Sales chart and sold over one million copies. The tune went platinum in the U.S. In 2002 the band had split up but reformed in 2009.

Having been diagnosed with leukemia in 2005 Cronin set up the Rich Cronin Hope Foundation to help raise awareness about the condition. The foundation also asked Americans to donate bone marrow and blood.
