Beloved Irish American talk show host Regis Philbin was thought to be retiring when he stepped down from his post after 28 years on “Live with Regis and Kelly” but now it seems that he has signed on for a monthly slot on “The Rachael Ray Show”.

A statement from Rachael Ray said “I can't tell you how excited I am that Regis will be a recurring special guest on our show this season.

"Regis has been a close friend of the show and a close friend of mine for years and it'll be a blast having him on the team."

Philbin will appear on syndicated afternoon talk show, which was created by Oprah Winfrey, for an hour a month starting next Monday (24th September).

In an interview with USA Today Philbin said he couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

He said “I'm not gonna say I don't want to do your show!

“I think its fun. I spent my whole life doing this."

Of Rachael Ray he said “"I like her a lot. I've done her show a number of times. She has followed my show here in New York at 10. She has become a friend. [My wife] Joy and I have been to her home. She and her husband John have been to ours. She's a little dynamo."

Since leaving “Live with Regis and Kelly” last year he has appeared on “The View”, has filled in for Piers Morgan on CNN and played Betty White’s love interest.
