‘Silent,’ a heavily praised contemporary Irish theater production, is set to makes its American debut this month at the Irish Arts Center in New York City.

The much talked-about play will be running for 14 performances from September 6th through September 14th.

The show is both written and performed by Pat Kinevane, who was last seen at the Irish Arts Center in the similarly critically-acclaimed ‘Forgotten’ in 2010. His performance in ‘Shoe’ had him shortlisted on the final ten list for the Best Short Film at this year’s Academy Awards.

‘Silent’ is the touching story of McGoldrig, who once had splendid things. But he has lost it all – including his mind. He now dives into the wonderful wounds of his past through the romantic world of Rudolph Valentino.

Critics in Ireland, England, and Scotland have been singing the praises for ‘Silent,’ saying it is "a brilliantly crafted demonstration of everything that is possible in live performance" (The Skinny).

The Irish Independent called it "magnificent" while The Guardian praised its “dazzling theatricality”

‘Silent’ has already collected a number of awards, including The Scotsman Fringe First and The Herald Angel at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Best Theatre Award at the Clonmel Junction Festival, and The Argus Angel at the Brighton Festival.

‘Silent’ runs Wednesday to Saturday at 8pm, with Sunday matinees at 3pm, until September 23rd in the intimate 99-seat off-Broadway Donaghy Theatre in the Irish Arts Center at 553 West 51st Street. It will be shown as part of the fifth annual 1st Irish Theatre Festival. Click here to buy tickets.
