Fans awaiting J.J. Abram’s “Star Trek into Darkness” have just been hit with a trailer that will surely bring speculation and excitement.

The clip instantly captivates viewers as Captain Kurt, played by Irish American actor Chris Pine, and crew are in the midst of a life or death decision aboard the USS Enterprise.

Spock, played by actor Zachary Quinto, is accepting his eminent fatality as he is stuck in a live volcano with his only chance of survival being an unsure, unlawful rescue by those aboard the Enterprise.

The rescue would come with severe danger and would breach territorial boundaries in place to avoid conflict.  As Captain and crew debate the delicate mission, Spock reminds Kurt that, “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few,” which is a line in itself that strongly resonates with Star Trek fans.

The same line was used in a former Star Trek sequel, “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” when Spock was in a similar predicament.  Spock delivered the famed line then proceeded to sacrifice himself  for the Enterprise, bringing up many questions as to his fate in the May 17th release of “Star Trek into Darkness.”
