Irish-American actrees Mischa Barton is hoping to put her personal problems behind her as she gets in shape to make her T.V. comback this fall.

Barton, best known for playing privileged wild-child Melissa Cooper on "The O.C.", has signed on to star in "The Beautiful Life," CW's new teen drama.

The show - which revolves round the lives of several models living in New York City - stars "High School Musical" hunk Corbin Bleu and supermodel Elle MacPherson while the show's executive producer is Ashton Kutcher.

Barton’s mother, Nuala Quinn, is Irish and the 23-year-old has dual citizenship in Ireland and the U.S.

Barton has experienced some personal difficulties in recent times.  A 2007 DUI arrest was followed by a recent stay in a Los Angeles hospital for psychiatric treatment, and her yo-yoing weight has caused alarm.

Barton’s health issues delayed filming of episodes of "The Beautiful Life," but the cast and crew are back to work, with the series set to premier on the CW channel on September 16.
