Justin Timberlake sings “The Auld Triangle” as part of his role in the upcoming film “Inside Llewyn Davis.”

“Inside Llewyn Davis” is the latest movie by Joel and Ethan Coen, who also made “Fargo” and “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” The film takes place in 1961 in Greenwich Village where Timberlake’s character, a young folk singer based very loosely on Dave Van Rock, is trying to make it big in New York. The film also stars Carey Mulligan and John Goodman.

Timberlake sings the Irish folk song “The Auld Triangle” along with Marcus Mumford and members of Punch Brothers. The song was originally written by Dominic Behan and was featured in his brother Brendan's play “The Quare Fellow.” Timberlake is one in a long list to cover the Irish tune. The Clancy Brothers, U2, The Pogues, and Glen Hansard have all done covers. The Dubliners and Luke Kelly have also sung this song.

Timberlake sings several other songs throughout the film. The soundtrack produced by T-Bone Burnett will be released on November 11, 2013. Many of the songs on the soundtrack were recorded specifically for the film, but two archive recordings are also included. The last tracks are Bob Dylan’s performance of “Farewell” and Van Rock’s cover of “Green, Green Rocky Road.” “Inside Llewyn Davis” is not due for release until December.
