“Green Lantern” Ryan Reynold’s superhero movie, is set to pull in as much as “X-Men: First Class” and “Thor” in its opening weekend with help from the Father’s Day audiences on Sunday.

The 3D action pic took in $3.4 million for Warner Brothers at its midnight runs on Thursday. “X:Men” and “Thor’s” midnight runs took in slightly less with $3.3 million. Today the movie will open in 3,816 theaters, including 2,711 3D locations.

Based on A D.C. Comics classic character Warner Bros is hoping to pull in males over the age of 25 with younger males following in second place along with younger females going to see Reynolds in the title role.

Directed by Martin Campbell, Green Lantern features Blake Lively as the love interest and also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Tim Robbins and Angela Bassett.
