Glen Hansard is quickly becoming a fixture on movie soundtrack scene these days. After penning the song “Take the Heartland” for the blockbuster “The Hunger Games” earlier this year the Irishman has now taken a turn towards lighter fare contributing “The Gift” for the much anticipated Disney family film “The Odd Life of Timothy Green”.

“The Odd Life of Timothy Green” featuring Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton, Ron Livingston with an appearance by rapper/actor Common (also featured on the movie soundtrack on the hit “Love of My Life with Erika Badiya) follows the story of a struggling, single couple whose fortunes change for the better when a special magical child appears from a garden and enters into their lives.

Hansard’s song “ThIs Gift” can also be found on the deluxe version of the Irish performer’s successful maiden solo post-Swell Season release “Rhythm and Repose. ” The soft, melodic piano-driven tune was debuted on Late Night Show David Letterman show by Glen with help from Brooklyn Youth Chorus. After the rousing rendition of the song,  gap-toothed talk show host pointedly asked Glen of his notoriously weathered and worn acoustic guitar if “people had (been) shooting at ya?”
