Glee has scooped five Golden Globe nominations for this year’s annual event.

The Fox series has been nominated for best comedy/musical TV series, best actor for protagonists Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison and best supporting cast members nominees for Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer.

Other nominees for the best comedy award include "Modern Family "The Big C" and "Nurse Jackie" from Showtime, NBC's "30 Rock" and CBS' "The Big Bang Theory."

"All we ever heard initially was that a show like ours would never work," says Chris Colfer, nominated for supporting actor. "So getting these nominations just proves that theory wrong."

"They are just so amazingly consistent," says Mathew Morrison, "They allow us to continue to live up to the public's high expectations."

The Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live on January 16th on NBC.

It is one of the few award ceremonies that awards both the film and TV programs simultaneously.
