Hollywood heartthrob Gerard Butler will film a new IRA movie in Dublin this summer

Butler is set to play he lead role in the controversial new IRA movie 'Crossmaglen', according to Irish media reports

The film, to be directed by Kevin Connor, tells the story of IRA gunner Dermot McGarvey, who accidentally kills a mother and her two young children on a stakeout to kill British soldiers.

Butler previously filmed the romantic blockbuster PS I Love You in 2006 in Ireland with Oscar winner Hilary Swank and former Friends star Lisa Kudrow.
