Feis America arrived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada this evening, with heavy rain in our path all the way from Connecticut! Hopefully the sun will be shining on all of the dancers and their families who make their way to John Abbott College Saturday for the 32nd annual Festival Irlandais Feis Montreal hosted by Ville Marie Feis, Inc.

This year, Feis Montreal is host to the Robert Gabor Perpetual Junior Trophy, a North American Feis Commission (NAFC) Championship event. Boys and girls ages 13-under 17 qualify by winning their age group's Open Champion competition at an NFAC-sanctioned event during the previous 12 months, up until the actual day of the competition. Competitors this year hail from as far away as California, Michigan, and Tennessee as well as Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Toronto and Quebec. Former World Champions and sisters Fiona and Kevinah Dargan from Rince na Tiarna (NY) and several Top Ten World and All Ireland dancers will each dance their choice of both a soft shoe and hard shoe dance, and finish with a contrasting contemporary set dance.

The 2010 Robert Gabor Perpetual Junior Trophy was won by Nicholas Paulson from the Broesler School (MD/NJ) at the Feis Rose na Baile in August.

Musicians, including favorite Tony Nother, and eight adjudicators, will be busy with figure competitions and contemporary set competitions for Preliminary Champions, in addition to the standard grade and champion events. Somewhat unique to the Feis Montreal is the outdoor concert stage and pub with performances, featuring Salty Dog, starting at noon.

We will be posting updates and results as they are made available to us. Good luck to all the dancers competing across North America this weekend from your friends and fans for life at Feis America, North America's favorite Irish dancing magazine!
