The Fairfield Irish Festival celebrated their 24th Anniversary over this past Father’s Day Weekend. Having settled down in their current location on the campus of Fairfield University, this beautiful site allows organizers to expand the displays of Irish games at the festival, holding youth football tournaments, as well as a Hurling exhibition.

The weekend is known as one of the premier festivals in the region, showcasing the best of Irish entertainment, food and hospitality. The 2012 festival followed in that tradition, offering festival-goers a family friendly atmosphere, Gaelic games, top notch musicians and dancers, as well as a pub and marketplace.

The weekend’s sporting centerpiece is the Donnelly Cup Gaelic football tournament. Kim and Tim Donnelly were an institution at the Fairfield County Irish Festival, and the competition was conceived as an annual celebration of the lives of two special people, who were integral members of the local Irish community.
