Irish rugby legend, Brian O’Driscoll and his new bride, Amy Huberman, certainly know how to throw a party. The wedding celebrations continued over two days with the groom slipping away on the wedding night at seven in the morning.

The 250 guests danced the night away on Friday and still had energy for a lower key party on Saturday night at the Lough Rynn Castle in Leitrim.

“It was fairly bananas but a different kind of night to Friday because people knew more people by that stage and it was a bit more relaxed,” said one of the guests.

"Brian was going up the stairs at seven when some of the staff were coming in to do the breakfast. This is not a wedding that the bride and groom are not participating fully in.”

Friday evening’s party was kicked off by the couple’s favourite band, The Coronas. The guests were then given an opportunity to watch the wedding video before the Bogus Brothers performed. As the evening progressed a van from Brian’s favourite burger joint, Gourmet Burger, arrived with supplies for the guests.

Guests said that one of the highlights of the wedding evening was the Jewish Hora to the tune of Hava Naglia. With giant rugby players like Victor Costello and Jamie Heaslip holding them aloft they were in safe hands.

On Saturday a slightly weary bunch of guests rose in the early afternoon for a barbecue, which in true Irish style ended up being and indoor outdoor affair due to the rain. Though Saturday was a more relaxed evening the rugby players among the guests showed true stamina and stayed on until the bitter end.

A spokesperson for the couple said “It was exactly the wedding that they wanted…"It was lovely for their parents too, to see all that had been done for their children."

Brian and Amy will fly to Africa on Monday to begin their honeymoon.
