Pop sensation One Direction has broken all ticket records in Ireland – and sold out Croke Park twice for concerts in 2014.

The teen heart-throbs will now play two sell-out gigs at the home of the GAA in May next year.

Demand for the initial concert on May 24th brought the ticket site to a halt and a second date 24 hours later was immediately added.

The 150,000 tickets for both dates were all sold within two hours of Saturday’s sale opening.

Ticketmaster managing director Eamonn O Connor told the Irish Independent:  “It’s been unbelievable  we could have sold out a third Croke Park concert such was the demand."

Band member Niall Horan, from Mullingar, took to Twitter to express his happiness at the news.

He tweeted: “ahhhhhhhhhhh just found out the croke park show is sold out... im sooo excited to announce a 2nd night 25th of may..is now on sale”

The band previously played sold out dates in Dublin’s O2 in early 2013.
