Variety announced that Matthew McConaughey is set to join Channing Tatum in a stripper film titled "Magic Mike." The movie is based on a "pivotal time" in Tatum's real life when he was a teenage exotic dancer in Tampa before he became a well-known actor.

Tatum will star in the film as the title character, an experienced stripper who takes under his watch a new dancer played by Alex Pettyfer and teaches him the ins and outs of the business and how to hustle on and off the stage.

McConaughey, who has often displayed his appreciation for being in the buff, will star as Dallas, a former stripper who is now the owner of Xquisite, the strip club "Magic Mike" and his apprentice work for.

The strip joint drama will be directed by Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh.

"When Channing talked to me about this, I thought it was one of the best ideas I'd ever heard for a movie," Soderbergh said.

"I wanted in immediately. It's sexy, funny and shocking. We're using Saturday Night Fever as our model, so hopefully we're on the right track."

Besides being a recent father of twins, McConaughey has a few projects in the works. He has been working on "The Lincoln Lawyer" and has also just signed to star in the suspenseful "Mud" alongside America's sweetheart, Reese Witherspoon.
