No less than twelve Irish acts will perform at the renowned Austin, Texas festival South by Southwest (SXSW), including Hozier, the Strypes and the Heathers.

SXSW is a collection of music festivals, conferences, film and interactive media events that take place in March each year in Austin. It began in 1987 and has continued to grow in size with the music event attracting over 16,000 registrants last year.

Featuring on the festival line-up from the Emerald Isle are Cian Nugent, Dott, Heathers, Hozier, Kid Karate, RAMS Pocket Radio, September Girls, The Strypes, The Young Folk, Unknown, Wonder Villains, and Wounds.

The original goal of the event was to create a platform that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers and to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas. That continues to be the goal today with music, film and interactive technologies at the core of the festival's focus.

Music from Ireland runs two events in Austin over the course of the festival to showcase the artists representing the best of emerging Irish talent. The first, the Official Showcase, will be held in Maggie Mae's Gibson Room on March 12. The second, the well-known Full Irish Breakfast, will be held in BD Riley's on March 14.
The festival will runs from March 7 to 16.

More information on the acts and where they will perform can be found at www.musicfromireland.org or at sxsw.com/music.
