On June 27, The Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy was the setting for the sixtieth wedding anniversary of Eugene ( Fenagh, Co. Leitrim) and Kathleen (Geevagh, Co. Sligo).

They met in Toronto in 1949 before moving to Boston where they eventually got married in St. Mary’s Church in Brookline in 1954. The guests came from as far away as Alberta and Toronto, Canada. John Connors band supplied the music, and Eileen Fowler presented a slide show of the family, starting with them growing up in Quincy.

Afterwards, Ciara Duggan performed an Irish step dance. The surprise of the evening was when Kathleen came out wearing her original wedding gown proceeded by her original flower girl, Ann Marie (Glynn) Ryan. Kathleen was accompanied by her three daughters, Imelda, Eileen, and Kathy, as well as her two granddaughters, Keara and Beth Greenan, who carried the train. An astonished Eugene waltzed Kathleen around the dance floor.

As part of the evenings’ festivities, everyone went out on the veranda to watch to sun set over Boston harbor, and a good time was had by all.

Congratulations to the happy couple from all the staff at The Irish Emigrant.
